Writing a novel like The Prophecy of Twelve—which explores such weighty spiritual themes—requires discipline that goes beyond just word count. It requires the spiritual discipline to keep my own life in balance.

The book is about twelve men struggling to integrate their past with their sacred mission. In a way, every day is a struggle to integrate the three "W's":

  1. Writing (Vocation): This is the work I feel called to do—my mission to tell stories that matter.

  2. Work (Provision): The necessary tasks and responsibilities that sustain my family and life.

  3. Worship (Faith): The constant refueling of the spirit that prevents burnout and maintains my moral compass.

If I neglect Worship, my Writing becomes empty, and my Work becomes burdensome. If I neglect Work, I can't sustain my purpose. It’s a perpetual juggling act, but Worship must always be the foundation. It keeps me tethered to the "Power of The Light" that I write about.

Reflect & Engage:

  • Do you feel a good balance between your professional life, personal life, and spiritual life? Where do you feel the pull most strongly?

  • Share your best piece of advice or a practical routine for maintaining a healthy work-life-worship balance!
